This workshop is designed to help participants understand what specially designed instruction is and why it is important. In addition, we will discuss who may deliver specially designed instruction as well as the benefits of a co-taught classroom.

Learning Objectives:

Understand what Specially Designed Instruction is and why it is important

Understand Who can provide SDI

Where your child may receive SDI and the benefits of a co-taught classroom

 

Presenters: 

Ceil Carse currently works as a student teaching supervisor with Carroll University. In addition, she coaches early educators in the field of Special Education. She is retired from full time teaching in the area of Special Education after 37 years in the classroom.

Sharon Madsen currently serves as an Education Consultant on the Special Education Team for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. She has over 14 years of experience teaching general education and special education.

Tracy Elger currently serves as the Executive Director of Programs and Services for CESA 2.  She has over 24 years of experience as both a special education teacher and in administrative positions.  While the bulk of her position at CESA 2 is administrative, she continues to coach districts around the state in co-teaching and specially designed instruction.

Ceil, Sharon, and Tracy have a shared passion for Co-Teaching and Specially Designed Instruction. Collectively they have been creating Co-Teaching training and resources for Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction.
