It is essential for your child’s success to develop an effective and appropriate Individualized Education Plan (IEP).  The IEP can help to develop a plan for your child’s future.  Parents need to get ready early, actively participate and stay connected.  The use of the IEP Checklist will provide parents with that important organizational structure and serve as a guide for before, during and after the IEP.

Matthew Zellmer is the Parent Services coordinator for WI FACETS, which oversees the help desk that provides quality special education support to families. He is also the Transition Coordinator under the Milwaukee Advocacy Grant, under which he co-organizes the summer Youth Leadership summit for high school students with disabilities and hosts other transition workshops for youth, families and professionals. Matthew earned his Master’s degree in communication and is a frequent presenter at statewide conferences.
