During this interactive webinar, Terri will compare and contrast sexual learning “scripts”: frequently experienced by individuals with I/DD. Designed to help participants understand unique circumstances in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities that shape attitudes and behaviors around sexuality.

Presenter:

Terri Couwenhoven, MS, is a Certified Sexuality Educator (CSE) specializing in the development of programs and resources for people with I/DD, parents, and the professionals who support them. She is working on her 5th book and is the mom of two daughters. Her oldest has Down syndrome.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify 4 common “scripts” frequently experienced by people with I/DD
  • Describe the impact of these scripts on sexual attitudes and behaviors
  • Identify strategies and resources for addressing these “scripts”
