Navigating the Juvenile Justice System When You Have Mental Health Challenges

This workshop will help participants better understand how the juvenile justice system works and key terminology. It will also provide ways to support children or youth that may be involved in the juvenile justice system. Last, this workshop will provide community resources for caregivers.

Learning Objectives:
• Identify resources in the community to support caregivers navigating the juvenile justice system
• Better understand the court process and juvenile justice system
• Identify ways to support your child and/or adolescent with mental health needs during this process


Anna Moffit currently serves as the Executive Director at NAMI Dane County - National Alliance on Mental Illness. She has also worked as a Parent Peer Specialist at Wisconsin Family Ties and has supported many families with children or youth involved with the juvenile justice system. She is also a parent to an adolescent on the Autism Spectrum.
