This presentation will focus on requirements relating to discipline under IDEA, including what constitutes a disciplinary removal and how they should be counted, when manifestation determinations are required, what factors should be considered in determining whether the behavior is a manifestation of the child's disability, and when a student may be removed to an interim alternative educational setting. 


Patricia Williams is an Assistant Director for the Special Education Team at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.Her focus is primarily on compliance monitoring and the dispute resolution procedures.  Ms. Williams is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, and has worked for the department for over 15 years.
