Description:

Learn how Wisconsin’s new law, formalizing Supported Decision Making Agreements, gives people with disabilities and older adults the ability to choose people to support them as they make their own decisions, without giving up their legal authority to make their own decisions. We will discuss the concept of supported decision making, what this new law is intended to do, who can use these agreements, what can be included in an agreement, what the role of a supporter is, and other features of Wisconsin’s law.

Presenter:

Tami Jackson is an experienced public policy analyst and has worked on budget and legislative proposals on a wide array of public policy issues at both the state and federal level. Tami leads BPDD’s policy work, and works with the state legislature, state agencies, Wisconsin’s Congressional delegation, coalition groups, and self-advocates public policy issues important to people with disabilities and their families – including health and long-term care, employment, education, transportation, equal rights for people with developmental disabilities.
