Description:

This year, your child will have new goals and objectives, explore new content, and learn new skills. There are many ways family members of young children can support literacy at home and in the community outside of school hours. We will discuss assessments, Literacy in the IEP, and communication with your child’s school. We welcome you to join us as we explore tips, strategies, and everyday opportunities for you to engage with your child and your school around literacy.

Jan Serak  is the Director of Serak Consulting Services, LLC, where she contracts with nonprofit organizations to provide Board training, strategic planning, and serve in interim nonprofit management capacities. Prior to her retirement, she was the CEO and founder of WI FACETS. She was a founder and the Parent Partner of the WI Special Education Mediation System. Jan has served on many Boards, including the Autism Society of America; Autism Society of SE WI and Autism Society of WI; the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution in Special Education (CADRE).. She also served on the WI State Superintendent’s Council on Exceptional Education, WI Governor’s Read to Lead Task Force, and OSEP State Advisory Panel, Quality Education Coalition. Jan received her M.A. in Educational Psychology and Dispute Resolution from Marquette University. She is the parent of two sons, one of whom has autism.
