Description:

Whether a child is in preschool, child care or spending time with parents or caregivers at home, the transition to kindergarten can be a stressful time for parents, educators and children. Too often, preparation for kindergarten does not begin until a month or two just before kindergarten begins. However, transition to kindergarten is a process that is most successful when it is carefully planned out over the entire pre-kindergarten year. This webinar will provide valuable information for teachers and families to make this transition as smooth and as seamless as possible.

Presenter:

Jenny Bibler is the Early Childhood Consultant on the Special Education Team at the Department of Public Instruction. She has held this position for 6 years, and the same position at the Oklahoma State Department of Education for 5 years. She is also the grant director for the Early Childhood Program Support and Leadership grant at DPI. Before that Jenny worked in the Oklahoma Early Intervention Program, Sooner Start as a transition coordinator and as an Early Childhood teacher in the Norman Public School District. Jenny’s special interests include inclusion, transition from early intervention to school services, and IEP development for young learners who participate in early childhood programs.
