Early educators know that reading books to young children is a critical component of an early education classroom, but are all students accessing and engaging in the stories we read to their highest potential? During this presentation we will explore techniques to transform your read alouds to increase oral language, deepen children’s knowledge and comprehension, and expand engagement. Participants will leave with tools and strategies that they can begin using immediately.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the instructional purpose of Interactive ReadAlouds in the PreK classroom
  • Understand how to plan for a highly engaging interactive Read Aloud
  • Learn strategies for adapting the read aloud experience to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning needs

Presenter: Nicole Aldworth is an Early Childhood Specialist at CESA2. She has 23 years of experience working with young children and their families as well as supporting early educators in a variety of developmentally appropriate content. Nicole has taught Early Childhood Special Education, 4K, and 5K. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in the field of early childhood education, and early childhood special education.
