Description:

This session will provide parents and families with essential information about a school district’s Child Find services, focusing on children who are not yet of school age. You will learn what Child Find is, how and when families can access these services, and practical ways you can participate and support your child throughout the process.

Presenter:

Cathy Daentl has been working in the Early Childhood field for over 30 years, starting as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher. Before shifting into regional and statewide technical assistance for Early Childhood Special Education 10 years ago, Cathy has served in the Early Care and Education field in multiple capacities, including with a Wisconsin Head Start Program and managing her in-home child care program. When not supporting adult learners and school district programs, Cathy enjoys time with family and taking spontaneous trips with her husband.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of what Child Find is and how it connects to children not yet of school age
  • Parents will identify how they can use the Child Find process to support their child
  • Parents will understand ways they can participate and support their child during the Child Find process
